Good experiences with Mirena?

I just had a baby 2 months ago and am feeding. I am not able to take regular birthcontrol anyway as I have a hormone intolerance (extreme depression, etc...), so my doctor suggested the Mirena. I had it inserted last week but have been reading many horror stories. Has anyone had good experiences with this? Or does anyone have any suggestions for non-hormonal bc (I DO understand that Mirena has hormones, but they are localized according to my doctor and won't effect me as much as regular bc)? My husband and I do NOT want any more children for several more years...
