Is it true the Russian T34 Tank's 85mm had an inaccurate AP Rounds.?

I know this gun was an upgrade to deal with newer German armor and in general was a great powerful weapon but in a book I was reading stated that the AP rounds used were as bad (In accuracy) as the APDS of the British 6 and 17 Pounder, what a pity the British didn't work out in WW2 how to put stabilized fins on their APDS rounds.
