Does this look like melanoma?

It is very hard to tell since I am not a doctor, but in my experience most GPs can't tell either. I recently had a doctor examine a similar mole and he said he really didn't know but "I wouldn't worry about it" and that if it was upsetting me I could get it burnt off. Usually if it has been there for a long time and it is not growing rapidly then it is not cancerous.
